On Peripheral Spaces and the Shifting Center
Polina Penkova
The review is focused on the collection “The Periphery: Modes of Functioning and Ways of Interpretation”, which holds the papers from the scientific conference held on November 14–15, 2023 at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Part of the thematic project “Texts from the Marginal: Memory and Applications”, the conference and the collection mark the finale of a five year research work on the problem. The result of these studies is an expanded view of the problematics of the oppositions periphery–center, marginalia–center and the systematization of clear ideas about the notions of peripherality and marginalia in the context of the constantly developing literary field.
Keywords: periphery; center; marginalia; literature
